With his masterful performances and enigmatic personality, triple Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna is undoubtedly one of the all-time racing greats.
In the week that the 2011 F1 season reaches its climax in his home country, Brazil, Autosport International has announced it will honour Senna’s outstanding career with a display at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre (NEC), UK, on 12-15 January 2012.
Passion for the Brazilian legend, named Formula One’s greatest driver by Autosport magazine, has been reignited this year with the release of the award-winning documentary movie on Senna’s life. Autosport International’s tribute will showcase the karts that launched his international reputation, alongside a collection of the F1 machinery that powered him to three world titles, 41 victories, 80 podium finishes and 65 pole positions.
“Ayrton Senna is a motorsport icon. Following the success of the documentary film released about him earlier this year, it seemed appropriate to honour the man held close in the hearts of so many racing fans,” said Autosport International Show Director Ian France. “We will be revealing the full line-up closer to the event, but Autosport International visitors can look forward to an exciting selection of vehicles.” It is not just classic F1 machinery on show at Autosport International: the 2012 event will feature contemporary Grand Prix cars at the F1 Racing Grid, while personalities from the Formula One paddock, including Force India’s Paul Di Resta and television personalities Jake Humphrey and David Coulthard, will be appearing on the Autosport Stage.
In addition, visitors can enjoy displays celebrating other forms of motorsport including a display honouring British rally heroes, along with high octane performances in the Live Action Arena, the UK’s largest indoor race track.
