Conceived by Heineken®, F1’s global sponsor, in partnership with the Senna family, and backed by Formula 1®, the Heineken festival-Senna Tribute honors one of the greatest Brazilian idols of all time: Ayrton Senna. As part of a series of actions created by the brand to celebrate in 2019 the 25th anniversary of the three-time world champion legacy and inspire a new generation of pilots, the event will be open to the public and will take place today in São Paulo, at the Ibirapuera Obelisk, on the 9th. November (Saturday), from 12h.
To help inspire new generations of drivers and thrill the fans of the world’s premier racing category, the event will feature iconic cars that were part of Ayrton Senna’s story: Toleman model TG184, used by the Brazilian driver in his debut at F1, in 1984, and the iconic Lotus model 97T, the car that gave it the first victory in the category, in Estoril, Portugal, on April 21, 1985. To add to the excitement, the Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport and Renault F1 Team teams will also bring their F1 cars (2018 models) to accelerate on the streets of São Paulo. In addition, legends of the tracks that influenced Senna, such as two-time Formula 1® world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, or were influenced by him, such as Brazilian Caio Collet and Mexican Esteban Gutierrez, will drive the cars at high speed in the Ibirapuera.
Mercedes 190E
On May 12, 1984 Mercedes-Benz organized a race to promote the launch of the vehicle, with 21 identical 190E models, and invited to the event the most prestigious drivers of that time, including Niki Lauda, ??Alain Prost, Keke Rosberg, Carlos Reutemann, John Watson, Denny Hulme, Jody Scheckter, Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss, James Hunt, Graham Hill, Alan Jones, Jacques Laffite, among others. Senna began writing his name in the history of world motorsport by being the winner of the race. To recall this symbolic day in Senna’s career, the same model used by the driver will make a show lap during the Heineken festival-Senna Tribute.
Duccati Senna
To show Senna’s entrepreneurial spirit, Heineken®, the Senna Family and Formula 1® will also introduce the Duccati Panigale 1199 S Senna. Exclusive model made for Brazil, the sports bike had only 161 units produced – a number chosen to represent the amount of GPs disputed by Ayrton in F1.
Bicycle Performances
In addition to her passion for accelerating cars and motorcycles, Senna has always enjoyed pedaling. The rider always made sure to know the tracks before the bike races. To tell this story, the event will showcase different designs, sizes and styles. There will also be a freestyle (BMX) performance featuring 16 bikes and 25 performers.
Drift
To encourage audiences to immerse themselves in the drift world, the driving technique for literally sliding the car sideways with speed and at different angles, the event will feature a drifting racing performance and drifting show by the Drift Meet Team.
Kart
Ayrton Senna was a three-time Brazilian champion, two-time South American champion and twice runner-up karting champion. Therefore, to remember the driver’s passion, Tuka Rocha, Olin Galli, Beto Monteiro, among others, will accelerate and honor Senna.
Music and Djs
To warm up and stir the crowd, the warm-up of the event is under the responsibility of Brazilian DJ and kart racer Ney Faustini. To end this tribute in style, the event will be attended by Medvza. A native of Milan, Italy, “Medvza” has gained a lot of prominence with his debut album “Piece of your Heart”, which already circulates among the most listened in the world, conquering numerous positions in the music ranking of the largest global streamings (Apple iTunes Dance, Apple Music, Shazam, Spotify, Spotify Viral Chart), also securing # 2 position on the UK charts and the Viral Global Chart.
Finally, the event will also feature Ivan Moré as host, Cris Dias as reporter and Gerson Campos as commentator, as well as other surprises to be revealed by Heineken® and Formula 1® only on the day. The whole conception of the event was developed by Heineken® in partnership with Red Door Agency, which signs the general and artistic production, as well as the logistics and infrastructure areas of the project.
This is another Heineken® action in partnership with the Senna family in 2019. The first took place in May, during Senna Day, in which the brand offered a racing simulator in the colors of Senna’s iconic helmet. Already the second action took place between September and November, where each post posted on social media timeline (Instagram and Twitter and Facebook) with #Thank youSenna, $ 5.00 will be destined to the Ayrton Senna Institute, which actively contributes to the development of Brazilian public education.
