The book “100 Senna” was released in São Paulo this Wednesday, November 11th, in the week that precedes the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix. It reveals never-before-seen details of Ayrton Senna’s life through objects kept by his family and that are being presented for the first time to admirers of one of the greatest drivers in history.
In “100 Senna”, helmets, racing suits, books and trophies are part of a collection that holds lots of stories about the three-time world champion. Under care of his family and the Ayrton Senna Institute, these treasures – until now rarely seen or completely unknown – can be admired by all of his fans.
“Many of the pictures, as well as these items’ stories, are being shared with the public for the first time”, explains Celso de Campos Jr, curator and author, who used exclusive interviews with Ms. Neide, the driver’s mother, as the basis for the texts that accompanies each picture. “They are objects that were part of the idol’s life, and that help explain each chapter of his journey, from childhood to adulthood, from uncertainty to stardom”, adds Celso de Campos Jr.
The book comes from a partnership between Arte Ensaio publishing company and the Ayrton Senna Institute. It showcases 100 objects from the driver’s personal and professional life, spread over more than 300 pages, accompanied by pictures from his life and career.
“It’s a special creation, since it shows important aspects of Ayrton’s life that had never been revealed before. They are special moments that highlight his intense dedication and everything he had to overcome to become a national hero.
Beyond that, the book helps in building our champion’s legacy. It was because of his dream of giving a better life to the Brazilian people that the Ayrton Senna Institute was founded. And now it benefits around 2 million children and teenagers by offering a better public education”, says Bianca Senna, Branding director of the organization and the driver’s niece.
The book, also supported by XP Investimentos, Secretaria Municipal de Cultura and Prefeitura do Rio De Janeiro, can already be purchased at the Ayrton Senna Shop (only to Brazililians for now), and will be available at the best Brazilian bookstores, with two cover options, to the delight of Ayrton Senna’s fans.
