The Ayrton Senna Go-Kart Trophy has a new location for its first edition: it will be held at the Beto Carrero World Kart, in Penha (SC), on December 3rd and 4th. Greg Mansell and Alex Brundle, the sons of Nigel Mansell and Martin Brundle will be participants.
“It will be quite interesting to see a race with the new generations of Senna, Fittipaldi, Piquet, Mansell and Brundle competing in a trophy that bears my uncle’s name,” says Bianca Senna, Ayrton’s niece and director of Branding at the Ayrton Senna Institute.
Initially the competition was scheduled to take place in Florianópolis, at the Kartódromo Arena Sapiens, but the organization of the event, promoted by Carlinhos Romagnolli, requested a change of venue.
“Several factors contributed to this change of location. We had to make that decision, although we still have the dream of someday returning to this type of event in the capital of Santa Catarina to pay homage to former governor and senator Luiz Henrique, one of the promoters of the construction of the kart track, which unfortunately left us in 2015 “, says Romagnolli, who was a promoter of the Star Challenge and today also promotes the 500 Miles of Granja Viana Kart.
The Ayrton Senna Trophy will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Ayrton Senna World Championship triumph, which was won on October 20, 1991. The race has several confirmed names: Nelsinho Piquet, Helio Castroneves, Christian Fittipaldi, Pietro Fittipaldi, Marcos Gomes, Felipe Fraga , Ricardo Zonta, Giuliano Raucci, Sergio Sette Câmara and others.
In addition to the race car racing event, the event will also have several other attractions such as the Kids Cadet category, a race with children between the ages of 9 and 11. Also confirmed are the Motocross freestyle show and the open car driver parade.
