Former Formula 1™ and current McLaren GT factory driver Bruno Senna has joined the McLaren P1™ GTR Driver Programme and will act as mentor at each of the exclusive events. Having been announced as a McLaren GT factory driver earlier this year, Senna will work closely with each of the tailored programmes, ensuring optimum performance for each of the cars and drivers around some of the world’s most iconic and challenging, circuits.

The McLaren P1™ GTR exists as a track-only machine built with the sole purpose of thrilling its owners on some of the world’s greatest circuits. It isn’t subject to any requirements to make it legal for road use, nor is it restricted by racing regulations, so such a car demands a similarly radical approach to the customer experience: the McLaren P1™ GTR Driver Programme.

From the moment a customer enters the McLaren P1™ GTR Driver Programme, they have privileged access to the world of McLaren, including the most advanced facilities and highly skilled personnel available anywhere. McLaren Design Director Frank Stephenson helps the customer design their car’s livery; each driver is fitted for a custom race seat and measured for a tailor-made race suit and helmet; a dedicated performance scientist and fitness trainer prepares them for the physical demands of a 1000PS (986bhp) McLaren with 660kg of downforce; and sessions in a Formula 1™ simulator at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) ensure they get the most out of their car when they arrive at each racetrack.

Which is what the McLaren P1™ GTR Driver Programme is all about. Over the course of the first McLaren P1™ GTR ‘season’, customers will visit six world-class circuits with their cars, supported by dedicated teams of international-standard, race-winning McLaren engineers and mechanics. Each driver will have a dedicated driver coach too – a successful racing driver in their own right – and the team of driver coaches is headed by the McLaren Chief Test Driver Chris Goodwin and the new McLaren P1™ GTR Driver Programme Mentor, Bruno Senna.
